Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
Lunchou is an app that helps parents plan their children’s school lunches. It is operated by Marie-Charlotte Cantera, 2121, avenue Papineau, Montréal (Québec) H2K 0E6 (“we”).
This policy explains what personal information the app uses, why, where it is stored and what your rights are. It is written to comply with Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
1. The essentials
- Your profile and your children’s information stay on your phone. Lunchou has no online account and no server: your name, your email, and your children’s first names, photos and preferences are never sent to us. We have no access to them.
- Payment is handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card number or your address.
- No advertising, no resale. We do not sell, rent or trade any personal information. The app contains no advertising and no advertising tracking tools.
2. Information stored on your phone
Your parent profile
In the Profile tab, you can enter your first name, last name and email. These fields are optional. They are used only to personalize the app. Your email is not transmitted and we do not write to you at that address.
Your children
To plan lunches, you can enter in the app, for each child:
- their first name (or a nickname) and a colour;
- their school level (kindergarten or elementary, and the grade);
- whether they need to eat lactose-free;
- the foods they like and the ones they don’t;
- a photo, if you choose to add one.
The app also stores your weekly menus, your favourite recipes, your grocery list and your notification preferences.
This information is saved only in the app’s storage on your device. It is used only to display the menu, adapt portions and ingredients, and prepare the grocery list. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
Photos. When you tap a child’s circle, the app asks for permission to access your photos. It uses only the photo you choose, does not access the rest of your photo library and uploads no images. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your phone’s settings.
Notifications. If you turn on reminders (the day before school days, or on Sunday for the weekly menu), the app asks for permission to show notifications. These reminders are scheduled directly on your phone: no notification identifier is sent to us or to a notification service. You can turn them off in the Profile or in your phone’s settings.
Backups. If your phone’s backups are turned on (iCloud or Google), this data may be included in your device backup, under Apple’s or Google’s terms. We have no access to it.
First name rather than full name. We suggest entering only your child’s first name or a nickname. A last name is never needed.
3. Subscription information
The Lunchou Family subscription is sold through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. To check whether your subscription is active, the app uses the RevenueCat service (RevenueCat, Inc., United States), which receives:
- an anonymous identifier randomly generated by the app (it contains neither your name nor your email);
- the purchase receipt provided by Apple or Google: plan chosen, price, currency, and purchase, trial, renewal and cancellation dates;
- technical device information needed for the service: model, operating system, app version, language, store country and IP address.
This information is used only to activate, renew and restore your subscription, and to produce our sales statistics. Apple and Google process your payment under their own privacy policies:
4. Disclosure outside Quebec
RevenueCat, Apple and Google may store the information described in section 3 on servers located outside Quebec, including in the United States. That information is then subject to local laws. Before using these providers, we assessed that the protection offered is adequate, and we bind them by contract to use this information only to provide their services.
5. Children
Lunchou is intended for parents and guardians, not children. Information about a child under 14 is entered by their parent or guardian, who consents by entering it. This information remains on the parent’s device (see section 2). If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
6. Retention and deletion
- Data on your phone: it remains until you change it or remove a child. The “Erase my data” button in the Profile deletes your profile, children, menus and favourites all at once. Deleting the app also erases it permanently. Your subscription is not affected: it is cancelled in your Apple or Google account settings.
- Subscription data at RevenueCat: it is kept as long as the subscription exists, then for as long as our accounting and tax obligations require. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time (section 8).
7. Security
Because your children’s information does not leave your device, its security depends mainly on your phone’s: passcode, updates and encrypted backups. Communications with RevenueCat, Apple and Google are encrypted.
If a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury affected information we hold, we would notify you and the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, as the law requires.
8. Your rights
You may at any time ask us:
- to access the personal information we hold about you;
- to have it corrected;
- to delete it or stop using it;
- to receive it in a structured, commonly used technological format;
- to withdraw your consent.
Write to our person in charge of the protection of personal information (section 9). We respond within 30 days. To help us find your subscription record, include the date of your purchase or attach the receipt from Apple or Google.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
United States residents. If you live in the United States, you can make the same requests (access, correction, deletion) by emailing us at info.lunchou@gmail.com.

10. Changes
We may change this policy, for example if the app changes. The date at the top of the page shows the last update. If a change affects how your information is used or disclosed, we will inform you in the app before it takes effect.
